Doctor Pate was born in TN and spent much of his early life on his family farm with cattle, horses, and more dogs than he can remember. As a teenager Dr. Pate moved with his family to Athens, Georgia where he became a die-hard Dawg fan.
Dr. Pate finished his veterinary training at the University of Tennessee and went on to finish a rotating internship in large animal medicine and surgery at the University of Georgia.
Dr. Pate met his wife Diana Pate in vet school at The University of Tennessee. Dr. Pate and his wife moved to Greenville in 2012 when Mrs. Dr. Pate was offered an opportunity to create and head her own department at Upstate Vet Emergency & Specialty.
Dr. Pate and his wife have 2 boys age 5 and 7 and a scruffy terrier mix named Ms. Ethel B. In his spare time Dr. Pate enjoys cheering on UGA during football season and getting outside with his family, whether it be for the boys sporting events or to camp and fish.
